It’s been some time and I just wanted to let you know how things are progressing.
The trailer is still on track and being worked on. Right now, I am going through and cleaning up the sketches and coloring/compositing them at the same time. It’s a slower process to do it that way, but it allows me to dedicate time to one little scene at a time and finish it before moving on, which is a better workflow for me personally.
Once I get the last couple scenes from the beginning finished up, I can give you a more accurate count of how many seconds of the trailer are complete overall. (I’m doing the scenes out of order based on what I feel like doing, so it’s not straight forward right now.)
I’m hopping back and forth between working on the trailer and my comic book. For the last few weeks I’ve been in a trailer sort of mood, so I’ve been dedicating free time exclusively to that. It might change over the next few days, but I want to get the first section of the trailer done! I’m MOTIVATED! (There are 4 ‘sections’ of it, by the way. Intro, middle, ending and then the bumper.)
Video updates are still.. on the doc. I wrote a quick script and recorded it, but then I found out that my new place has an unfortunate reverb problem that my current mic may not be able to overcome. I’ll have to figure that out.. Soon.

The voice trailer is up! You can view it on the cast page.
I’ll be working on the trailer next!
I’ve started the process of putting together the trailer! And guys.. I’m dying a little inside from how good it is. I can’t wait until people see it.
That’s all. I just wanted to flail a little bit about it!
Apologies for the quiet, but I’ve been waiting to get all the needed material from the voice cast to start production. They did lines in great time given the season!
I was told that the lines have all been recorded and they are in the process of being edited. I need to listen through them all and see if I need any retakes, but that’ll mean that the script audio has been recorded!
Once I verify the lines, Then I can get to work on our first trailer, the VA Introduction video. There won’t be any 2D animation in this intro…aside from compositing effects. It’s mainly so people can get a feel for who is going to be in the animation and what they sound like.
After that, I’ll be working on the teaser trailer.
Casting is now closed for Project Origins. Thank you for all who have applied to be part of the voice cast!
If we do additional episodes and I end up having to cast more characters, I’ll hold a separate casting for those. But for now, I think we have all of what we need to get the audio finished off.
Thanks again for everyones hard work and your time. All in all, we’ve gotten 174 entries for 11 roles. I’ll be updating you as things move forward and we have more news.
Popping in to give a quick progress update.
We have music for the trailer! I’ll post it on Youtube alongside the trailer when it’s published later. It’s called “Freedom Rising” composed by Jose Pavli. You can check his other work out at josepavli.com.
A rough storyboard has been completed to go along with the Trailer/Script which I’m working to make into a rough animatic that our voiceactors and voiceactresses can use to see what’s going on.
I’ve also chosen a song for the intro and I have a storyboard roughly figured out.. though I’m still not 100% on if I wanna go with it the storyboard I have or do something else. We’ll see. I’m planning on trying to get a remix of of the intro song composed just for Origins and seeing if the voice actresses we hire are willing to sing for it. But I know that might not be what they signed up for, so I have a backup plan just in case!
Voice tryouts have 5 days left to submit entries.
Ahhh… that’s all. 8D
The site has been brushed up a bit to prepare for the newly hired voice cast and staff overall. Enjoy the new layout and info!
Hey all. …(For those of you who read this). I wanted to give a bit of an update on where the project has been going.
I went into this project with the knowledge that I would need help to finish the Project Origins Game–There is just some aspects of game design that I don’t have expertise in to finish it myself–But I haven’t had any luck with contributors to the project.
I still want to produce a game though, and I still want to make something awesome with this project and idea. But I need to wait until I garner some interest on the game project to finish it..so what do I do? I think I have a solution.
For right now, it would be a good idea to take a step back and work on the Project Origins story rather than the game itself. As you might notice, Project Origins lacked a bit in the Story department. I’d like to fix that.
So what I’m intending to do is to make a 5-10 minute 2D SatAM-esuqe animated short based on the story behind Project Origins. This would allow me to produce something cool and I woundn’t need a huge amount of help to complete an animation. It’s still a big undertaking, but so is a game.
Therefore, at this point the game has been shelved in favor of..
Project Origins, The Animation.
So TL,DR: No game for now, but you get a cartoon instead! Hurrah!
